A master saxophonist, composer, and poet, Lake is also co-founder of the World Saxophone Quartet and founder of Passin' Thru, Incorporated, an educational non-profit organization that teaches about music. Lake's highly inventive avant-garde style is internationally respected, and his collaborations are a fusion of several musical styles with artists such as Mos Def, Lou Reed, Bjork, and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Lake is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Mellon Jazz Legacy Award, and Jazz Impact Award.
