Eriko Ito /2011.07
Eriko Ito on july 20.2011, in new york city. Eriko was born in Aomori Japan, and raised in Tokyo. She began her musical studies on the piano with Noriko Hirota, at the age of 4. When she was 12, she added study of the Japanese drum, which she subsequently played for many festivals. At 15, she began her vocal studies at workshops with Hikaru Hayashi's operetta chorus, and soon began performing with them. At this time she began to study German, Latin and English songs.
Intense vocal study began at Fujimi High School, where she joined the chorus and studied privately with Akane Butler, and independently with Nobumasa Kondo, professor at National Conservatory. Afterwards she attended Musashino Music Academy, graduating Bachelor of Music 2001. She is specialized in lyric soprano roles in many Operas, such as Liu in Turandot, Pamina in Magic Flute, Suzanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Cosi fan tutte and etc...She is also specialized in German Lieders which are composed by Shumann, Morzart and Wolf.
In Japan, Eriko performed many duo concerts with her mother, Ayako Ito, lead singer of the chorus group Shirakaba. She also performed at festival for world peace at the Itabashi City Center, Hibiya park, Yoyogi park and many other venues.
In New York, she has continued vocal studies privately with Ira Siff, Dan Hobbs, Valentin Peytchinov as well as studied ballet at Dance Space Center, which led to a period of concentration in dance. Currently she has been performing in several showcases at the City Center and Valentin Peytchinov's vocal studio. Now she's focusing on intensive opera studies with Peytchinov's new emsemble, New York Vocal Productions.
